A Road Less Travelled: Hurt. Graeme Fancourt. Psalm 6. 23 Novemver 2008 PDF Print E-mail
A Road Less Travelled: Hurt was based on Psalm 6 and given by Graeme Fancourt on Sunday 23rd November 2008. Graeme suggested that Psalm 6 is one of the most difficult Psalms to read and often we would prefer to pass over.

He reviewed this Psalm through his personal testimony and his step-father who was diagnosed with bowel cancer and eventually died from it. Where can we take our rage and our pain? when we are so hurt and bruised we often lock things away or place them on permanent public display. How does our faith affect us. Do we reject God because he has not met our requests and expections.

Is God there when our pain is so acute? In this series on prayer we have discovered that pray is not a mechanical process, press a button and the packet comes out like a spiritual vending machine. In time of hurt people often revert to the psychics and mediums who profit from peoples hurt. Why be ripped off when we can approach the one true helper, who is still our parent even though we have grown up.

God can take our anger, bitterness and frustration. We can shout out to God when it hurts. He welcomes us in what ever state we are. In hurt God will be close to us. Our Churches must not only be places for expressing and showing joy. They must also be places for problems and hurts.

Let us ask God how we can bring our hurts and pains to him.
