Calling God by the name 'Here' is not really a name but we are often asked the question 'Where is God when we have trouble and suffer persecution'. Graeme noted that many of the early churches were fairly small probably less that forty people and easily persecuted. The early churches question are exactly the same as we ask these days and through the churches whole history.
We are reminded to 'look forward' since what is around us now will pass away. God has a better future for us, at some time in the future. 'Overcoming' is a key word not only for the people who first read the bible texts but it is for us here and now. God is in everything, he is here and now. God is the only eternal being.
How can we see and be more aware of God around us and in our lives? In one word – discipleship. We can read about him in a book and hear about him by going to meetings or seminars. We have to walk with Jesus in our daily lives.
