James 2:18 says 'my faith will be apparent to you by what I do'. Faith reserved for just Sundays or purely private thought will have little impact, if any at all. Putting our faith into practice is not about earning points or showing ourselves to be good, but about being the people of God that He calls us to be.

Through the church, and our links with other churches and various partner organisations, many of us are doing a whole host of activities. Many of these are quietly done behind the scenes. To give an idea, here are just some of the activities that are done out in the community.

  • Seaford Court: Mentoring the young people, providing occasional brunches, and a food parcel when they first move in.

  • Food Parcels: By partnering with the council drugs action team and Connexions youth service, food parcels are sent out to local people in desperate need. Currently we average about 2 – 3 of these per week.

  • Eustace Crescent Coffee.com: informal coffee & chat drop-in once a week at the new community flat

  • Eustace Crescent Sunbeams: Sunbeams held for the residents on location at Eustace

  • Eustace Crescent Kidz clubs: Two council run after-school clubs that we occasionally send volunteers to help at

  • JAC: Detached youth work out on the streets on Friday nights

  • Link Visiting Scheme: Visiting isolated/elderly folk at their homes – a Borough wide ecumenical scheme with referrals from social services

  • Nursing Home Services: Visiting two nursing homes to run a short worship service on a rota basis with other churches

  • Christian Aid: Annual door to door collection for Christian Aid

The above list is not necessarily exhaustive! It only shows activities where we organise ourselves to go out to people, and so excludes things like the monthly lunch and other groups that meet in our church buildings. Add to that our support of the schools work (both primary and secondary) – it adds up to lots of great ways and opportunities to put our faith into practice.

Some of the activities above result from the church's involvement in The Big Idea - an initiative to galvanise the local churches to work out in the community.

If you would like to get involved or support any of the above, then please feel free to email the church office. There are also other activities organised by other churches that we can happily connect you with if the above do not suit your taste. Of course please also remember to pray for the above – since we cannot do any of it effectively without Him.
