Sunday 18th of October is Harvest Sunday.  We will be meeting online for our Harvest Celebration, and going ahead with our thank offerings. This year, causes that will benefit from our giving are:

  • Rev Roy Searle – as part of our partnership, along with six other churches, we are supporting Roy in his work mentoring and supporting Baptist Pioneers in the North of England. He is also mentoring our own Savannah Cook as part of this partnership. Jean and Mike have recorded a short video to tell us more about Roy’s work:
  • The GOLD Charity – supporting mental health provision in Zambia, founded by Pru and Michael Mwanza. Pru is still very much involved and has made a video for us:
  • The Grub Club – a local Wokingham Charity supporting families in the community. Anna tells us a bit more about it here:

You can make a donation online using the church’s Barclays account details:

Account name: Wokingham Baptist Church
Sort code: 20-11-74
Number: 40963666
Reference: HARVEST

We won't be able to collect any food items at church this year but we'd like to encourage everyone to donate items to support the Wokingham Foodbank. Items they are currently requesting are:

  • Squash
  • Sponge puddings
  • Crisps
  • Confectionary/Chocolate
  • Custard
  • Children's toothpaste
  • Tinned carrots
  • Tinned potatoes
  • Tinned fruit
  • Razors

The Foodbank is open for receiving donations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10-12am. It is best to leave items outside and not go into the Foodbank. Alternatively, you can donate at Waitrose, Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsburys.
