We had been meeting for socially distanced services in the church building but, in view of the latest lockdown, we have temporarily returned to online services. We hope to be back in the church building soon!

Cultivating Compassion - Letting go of Perfectionism | Learning to Live Imperfectly
Slides including questions for individuals and groups.
Do you clean your house worrying about what your mother would make of it? Do you beat yourself up that your work isn't good enough? This week we're encouraged to be kind to ourselves as God is kind to us. We also hear from a Christian senior nurse working on the frontline of the pandemic, and her pointers for how to pray for the NHS.

Cultivating authenticity – letting go of what people think | Learning to Live Imperfectly
Verses from the book of Esther.
Questions for individuals and groups.
We are starting a new series for our Sunday services: Learning to Live Imperfectly. It tackles our inward life – the way we think about ourselves, which then impacts the way we engage with the world and the people around us. Based on the book The Gifts of Imperfection by Christian writer Brené Brown, we draw on the scriptures to explore ideas of courage, worthiness and self-compassion, and are encouraged to let go of perfectionism, shame and fear of what others think. None of us is perfect, but God has placed beautiful, valuable qualities within each of us. None of us is perfect, but we can learn to live a full, free and fruitful life with our imperfections.
This week, we look at cultivating authenticity. Lots of us struggle with what people think of us. Others struggle with feeling worthless and that we have nothing to offer. We explore the story of Esther from the Bible, and discover that we need to do is let go of what others think, and learn to live courageously with our imperfections. We also hear about a great new programme from Wokingham Baptist Church called Celebrate Recovery.

Hearing the call | Advent senses
Luke 1: 26-38 and Matthew 1:18-25
Questions for individuals and groups.
This week we will be hearing the story of the annunciation and reflecting on the response of Mary and Joseph to Gabriel’s message that they are to become the earthly parents of the son of God. With no live nativity this year we will look back on a past nativity, celebrating the sense of community it produced and think about the part we each play in building God’s kingdom on earth.
